Why is it called Montería?
Montería is the administrative, cultural, economic and political center of the Cordoba region, hosting tourist events and festivities.
As for the origin of the name of the city, there is documentation on a site called "El Paraje de las Monterías called Buenavista", in remembrance of the first town built in the place of "Las Monterías", named for being the site of meeting of the "hunters" who hunted in its surroundings.
Climate
The climate of the city of Montería is warm tropical with a dry season and a rainy season throughout the year. The annual average temperature of the city is 28 ° C
Environmental sustainability
Monteria in recent years has been recognized for its work in the environmental field. Governments have developed strategies to make Monteria one of the sustainable cities in Colombia. If the people and the government of Monteria continue to contribute to an excellent improvement in environmental quality, the objective that has been proposed will be achieved. Monteria is a quiet, calm and above all very clean city. It is characterized by having very large green areas and parks that continue to show good use of the environment.
Economy
The main activities of the city are cattle ranching and agribusiness, encouraged by the fertility of the Sinú valley. In Monteria the agricultural sector continues to be promoted, with which an excellent growth in its economy will be achieved. If many multinational and international companies support the exponential growth of the Monterrey economy, their products will be able to be commercialized and will be recognized nationally and worldwide.
Places of interest
The main tourist attraction of Montería is Avenida Primera or Veinte de Julio, parallel to the Sinú River, where the largest linear park in Latin America. Monteria doesn´t have many spaces to visit, however it will seek to take advantage of unused spaces to build tourist sites. For example, in the oxidation lagoon a park will be built that will have walking paths, theme parks and recreational spaces. If the goverment invest in places to visit and recreate, tourism in monteria will increase and grow exponentially.
